2026 Beginnings Credit Union KJ James Memorial Scholarship Now Open

The New York State Blues Festival is proud to announce that applications are now open for the 2026 Beginnings Credit Union KJ James Memorial Scholarship — an opportunity designed to support and uplift the next generation of musicians across New York State.

This scholarship is open to students ages 12–19 who are instrumentalists, vocalists, or composers with a passion for blues music and creative expression. Awards may be used for instruments, lessons, music programs, studio time, competition fees, or educational expenses.

The KJ James Memorial Scholarship celebrates not only musical talent, but dedication, individuality, and the power of music to shape lives and communities.

Finalists will be invited to attend the festival at Chevy Court at the New York State Fairgrounds to be recognized and receive their awards.

We encourage all young musicians across New York State to apply and share their story.
